• The method used for nominating new committee members has been agreed upon. 10 new committee members will be elected to serve in 2009. Nomination and voting system will be used during the AGM.
• Vendor day will be on 14 November 2008. The organisation details have been discussed. Marketing activities, such as banners and emails, will be used.
• The AGM will be held at Chiptronics office on 12 August 2008 at 7.30 pm.
• The committee has conducted a meeting on 17 July 2008.
• The SMTA Penang Chapter successfully staged its second Technical Seminar on 18 June 2008.
• Many thanks to committee members who helped with the seminar.

Photos from the Penang Chapter Electronics Manufacturing Technology Conference

The Penang chapter has been actively organizing seminar series for members and non-members in Penang to serve the electronic industry. This time around, we have organized Vendor Day and Technical Conference on Nov. 14, 2008. The event was very successful for a chapter which is a year old since its formation. Our sponsors and vendors made this Vendor Day & Technical Conference possible. This was the best time for many vendors to exhibit their product and technology during the weakening economy. Apart from this, we had local and overseas technical speakers who took part talking about the emerging technology and trends due in electronic manufacturing.

The total number of visitors to the event recorded 650 people. This was "unexpected" and vendors are already asking when the next event is. The event was officiated by Dato Lee Kah Choon, Executive Chairman of Invest Penang, who suggested that Invest Penang would be interested to promote SMTA Penang Chapter in the future Vendor Shows.
